This is just fun with a thermal camera. We had a the imaging core from a old obsolete thermal camera so it took a while to get it up and running. This isn’t an off the shelf thermal camera, its just the sensor and lens so we needed to interface to it and provide power. Luckily the core output an NTSC signal so all we needed to do was a bit of soldering and some power regulation.

We wanted to compare the relative thermal differences between the game consoles. We filmed with both the camera and an HD camera and overlapped the videos. Turns out the new playstation 3 slim appears to be the warmest of the two consoles, while the xbox 360 elite seems the coolest.
