This is my favorite piece of electronics in my toolkit. Its a FPGA development board. This is some what similar to a microcontroller, but about a million times better in some ways. What this thing can do at 50mhz, would take a microprocessor hundreds of mhz or more to do the same thing. Any sort of digital task is easy with this type of board. I recently used this board to build a laser shutter for my canon camera. It took about an hour to put together and to get working properly. This thing is a life saver.
